SureSmile Aligners

If you have questions, discomfort, or issues with your aligners, don’t hesitate to reach out. Lost or broken aligner? Contact our office immediately at (267) 961-5884.

Daily Aligner Wear

  • Wear your aligners for 20–22 hours a day. Only remove them when eating, drinking (except water), or brushing/flossing.
  • Switch aligners as directed. Change to the next set according to your orthodontist’s schedule (usually every 1–2 weeks).
  • Use your chewies. Bite down on chewies for 5–10 minutes daily to help the aligners seat properly on your teeth.

Cleaning & Care

  • Clean your aligners twice daily. Use a soft toothbrush with water and a clear, non-abrasive soap. Avoid toothpaste—it can scratch the plastic.
  • Soak aligners regularly. Use aligner cleaning tablets (like Retainer Brite or SureSmile cleaning crystals) a few times a week to keep them fresh.
  • Store aligners in the case when not in use. Never wrap them in a napkin—they can easily be thrown away.

Eating & Drinking

  • Remove aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water. Hot drinks can warp the plastic, and food can stain or damage aligners.
  • Brush and floss after every meal. Always clean your teeth before putting your aligners back in to prevent staining and cavities.

Troubleshooting

  • Lost or broken aligner? Contact our office immediately. Wear the previous set or the next set as instructed.
  • Discomfort or pressure is normal. Mild soreness is expected when switching aligners, especially for the first few days. Over-the-counter pain relievers (like ibuprofen) can help.
  • Keep all check-in appointments. These help ensure your treatment stays on track. Virtual or in-person visits will be scheduled based on your treatment plan.
  • Bring your current aligners to every appointment. Also bring your previous set, in case we need to review fit or make adjustments.
